Unitec hosts Cyber Security & AI Event in Limerick

Local businesses joined Unitec on 14 October 2026 for a morning of practical advice on protecting their organisations and adopting AI safely, followed by an exclusive tour of Dell’s Limerick facility.

Unitec’s Cyber Security & AI Event took place at Dell Technologies, Raheen Business Park, Limerick. Unitec was joined by its technology partners Dell, Huntress, Microsoft (with Westcoast Cloud), Mesh, Kaseya Datto, Fortinet (with Exertis) and usecure, along with An Garda Síochána. Guests arrived from 9:30am for registration and networking, before a full programme of expert talks ran through to lunch.

What was covered

The sessions focused on the biggest technology challenges facing Irish businesses today:

  • Cyber threats and trends: the current threat landscape and the real cost of a data breach
  • NIS2 and compliance: what the EU’s NIS2 Directive means for organisations and how to prepare
  • Security and monitoring: keeping watch over systems and responding to threats quickly
  • Backup and email security: protecting critical data and closing one of the most common routes for attacks
  • Adopting AI safely: how to get the benefits of AI without putting data or systems at risk

The morning ended with a panel discussion and Q&A, where attendees put their own questions to the speakers.

Lunch and facility tour

After a complimentary lunch, guests went behind the scenes on a tour of Dell’s Limerick facility.
